Cisco has announced a job opening for present final years and recent graduates for a designation of Software Engineer with a pay-scale of 10 to 12 LPA.

The job role requires following skills as expected for the position :

  • Solid understanding of distributed systems and networking principles, plus working knowledge of related disciplines, e.g., computer security, algorithms, database, and operating systems.
  • Contribute to small subsystem architecture design and write functional specs.
  • Write and/or provide input portions of design specs.
  • Independently develop software code per design specification.
  • Debug problems of moderate scope at the subsystem level.


Cisco Recruitment Process for freshers 2019 consists of 3 rounds. The various rounds involved in Cisco’s placement process are discussed below in detail.

  • Online Test – The online test conducted by Cisco consists of 2 sections as Aptitude section (20 questions, 20 minutes), & Technical section (30 questions, 40 minutes). There is no negative marking for wrong answers. The aptitude section covers general aptitude questions whereas the technical section covers questions on C, Computer Networking, Data Structures, Algorithms etc.
  • Technical Interview -  These consist of the face to face rounds with the interviewer where questions will be on CS subjects like Data Structure, Algorithms, Operating System, Networking, Database Management etc. Students will be tested of his or her in-depth knowledge in all aspects of domains related to Computer Science and Networking. Questions are generally asked from the projects, internships or training mentioned in the CV. The company primarily focuses on the approach of the students towards a particular problem.
  • HR Interview -  This round deals less with less technical questions and more with the HR questions like : Tell me something about yourself, How will you define yourself in one word?, Little discussions over the extracurricular activities written in the resume, Tell me about the worst decision you made, Team Conflict questions, Do you have any Location constraints?
