Dell Interview Experience

Q. Can you tell me something about yourself, and your role details?

I'm Devansh, an IT Engineering Graduate, selected at Dell for an SDE-1 Role.

Q.  Was it an on-campus/off-campus drive?

It was an on-campus drive only for CSE and IT engineering streams

Q.  Was the Process Online/Offline?

The entire process was online.

Q. How many interview rounds are conducted by Dell?

• Round 1 Resume Shortlisting         
• Round 2- Online Assessment
• Round 3 - Technical Interviews
• Round 4 – Business & HR Interview

 Q. Can you provide details about Round 1 – Resume Shortlisting?

All the registered students were asked to resume and students were considered for the next round i.e. Online Assessment based on the Projects and Skills sets.  

Q. Can you provide details about Round 2 – Online Assessment?

It was conducted on the HirePro Platform. There were 2 sections.

Aptitude Sections – 10 Questions

Core CS/IT Subjects – 40 Questions – They were from the Networking, Operating Systems, DBMS, OOPs, Java, C++, SQL, and Data structures concepts.

Q. What was the duration of the Online Assessment?

The duration was 60 minutes to solve 50 Questions.

Q. How many questions were you able to solve?

I could solve 35 to 40 questions in a given time. Very few students could clear the test.

Q. How difficult was the online Test?

 It was of medium to complex difficulty. Since the questions were conceptual and required more time to solve than the given time.

Q. How long does it take to announce the online test results?

The results were announced on the same day. Also, I was scheduled for the Technical interview the next day.

Q. What was the next round after the online assessment?

It was the Technical interview round.

Q. Technical and HR interview questions conducted separately?

Yes, they were conducted separately. After the Technical Interview final round was conducted and it was combined with Business Head and HR interviews again.

Q. Do you remember the interview questions asked in the Technical interview?

It was conducted through the Microsoft Teams platform

• Self Introduction and also the interviewer introduced himself.
• Asked to explain project work and I told about my couple of projects.
• What was the reason behind choosing these projects?
• My preferred programming language
• Friend functions
• Interfaces
• Doubly Linked List implementation
• OSI Layers Explanation
• Data Hiding and Abstractions difference.
• Scheduling Techniques of Central Processing Unit
• Implementation of Encapsulation
• Some more questions based on the points mentioned in the resume.

Q. What was the duration of the Technical Interview?

The duration was around 35 to 40 minutes.

Q. Do you remember the interview questions asked in the Round 4 Business Head & HR Interview?

• Self Introduction
• Project-related details, role, and implementation details
• Internship details were asked
• Skill set-related questions
• HR Questions like handling conflicts
• Working in the Team
• Given chance preference of domain/skills

Q. What was the duration of the Final Interview Round?

The duration was around 25 to 30 minutes.

Q. How long does it take to complete the recruitment process?

The process was over in a couple of days.

Q. Any suggestions for the Aspirants?

• Focus on Technical Skills and Project work
• Anyone Object Oriented programming along with DSA
• Knowledge of OS and DBMS Concepts is advantageous.
• Know your resume well – Expected to know every line mentioned in the resume

They will be offering an Internship, it is followed by the SDE-1 Role accordingly.
