I'm Jacob, an Engineering Graduate, selected at VMware as a Analyst.
Q. Was it an On-campus/off-campus drive?
It was an on-campus pool drive.
Q. How many interview rounds are conducted by VMware?
- Online Assessment – Elimination round
- Case Study Round – Not a Elimination round
- Technical Interview 1 - Elimination round
- Technical Interview 2 - Elimination round

Q. Kindly provide Online Assessment details?
It consists of the following sections and is a Elimination round. It is conducted on a Hirepro platform.
- Quantitative
- Verbal Ability
- Logical Reasoning
- Technical MCQs
- Coding
- Programming MCQs
Q. What kinds of questions were asked in Online Assessment?
It is usual aptitude assessment and time given was 15 mins. I can recollect following sections
- Aptitude Section - Quantitative. Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning – 15 mins time is given to solve the questions.
- Technical MCQs - Based on Networking, Object-Oriented Programming, Operating Systems and DBMS. Time given is 30 mins to solve.
- Coding – Duration is 30 mins and 1 question to be solved of medium difficulty.
- Programing MCQs- Duration is 15 mins and have 2 sections. In both sections – Anyone programming language from Java, C, C++, Python to be used. Same programming language cannot be used in both the sections.
Q. Duration of the Online Assessment?
The duration of the test is 90 mins for the Online Assessment.
Q. When announce the online test results?
Same day result was announced.
Q. What was the next round after the online assessment?
Next is a Case Study/ System Design Round - Technical Assessment and is not a elimination round. In this I got a given problem statement to draw a class diagram along with pseudo codes of major functionalities. Time given was 3 hours and problem statement was shared through email. Then solutions will be discussed in the subsequent interview rounds.
Q. What was the next round after the Case Study/ System Design Round assessment?
Next is Technical Interview rounds 1 and 2.
Q. What if Technical Interview round 1 assessment not cleared?
Since it is a elimination round, the process ends here.
Q. Technical and HR interview questions conducted separately?
Yes, they were conducted separately. Every stage there is elimnatintion.
Q. What is the Technical interview Round 1 question, if you can recall?
- Introduce yourself
- Resume based questions and all the points mentioned in resume discussed
- What is OOP and its main concept
- Implementation of OOP concepts in Java
- Real time applications of OOP concepts.
- I was asked to rate 1 to 5 on Java knowledge.
- Questions related to garbage collection, multithreading, serialization, and the difference between final, static, and abstract keywords.etc
- write a program for finding common elements in two sorted linked lists.
- explain my case study solution
Duration 50-60 mins
I managed to clear the Technical Interview Round 1 and qualified for Technical Interview Round 2
Q. What is the Technical interview Round 2 questions, if you can recall?
- Introduce yourself
- A program for finding the count of negative integers in a diagonally sorted matrix using code pair. The interviewer expected the different approach than the one used by me. Later in the end he explained the expected approach for the solution.
- I did get question about the subjects studied in the pre final year. There were questions around those subjects. \
- Again my case study solution was discussed
Duration 45-60 mins
I cleared Technical Interview round 2 and qualified for the Managerial Round

- Introduce yourself
- Strength and weakness
- Explain Project details
- What features were implemented and what is the scope to add few more if any.
- IS the project scalable.
- How will you deal with unhappy customers on your website.
- Few Scenario based questions
- Have you ever lied to parent
- What is my approach if given an project on unfamiliar technology
- Do you help your team member, what if you were not asked to help?
- How will you help a team member, who is struggling with the technologies.
Q. Do you remember HR interview questions asked?
Duration 10–15 mins – It is more of a Formality round if all previous interviews are cleared.
Some of the questions, I can recollect are as follows:
- Introduction and family background
- Ready to work in rotational Shifts?
- Are you okay to work anywhere in India?
- Salary details were discussed
- Any questions if I would like to ask

It was announced within 1-2 days.

- Focus on aptitude
- Prepare well at least 2 programming languages
- DSA is very important
