Q1) X and Y invest Rs.21000 and Rs.17500 respectively in a business. At the end of the year, they make a profit of Rs.26400. What is the share of X in the profit?

A) Rs.12000

B) Rs.12500

Q2) X starts a business with Rs.45000. Y joins in the business after 3 months with Rs.30000. What will be the ratio in which they should share the profit at the end of the year?

A) 1:2

Q3) Suresh started a business with Rs.20,000. Kiran joined him after 4 months with Rs.30,000. After 2 more months, Suresh withdrew Rs.5,000 of his capital and 2 more months later, Kiran brought in Rs.20,000 more. What should be the ratio in which they should share their profits at the end of the year?

A) 12:17

B) 32:21

C) 17:12

D) 21:32

Q4) Kamal started a business with Rs.25000 and after 4 months, Kiran joined him with Rs.60000. Kamal received Rs.58000 including 10% of profit as commission for managing the business. What amount did Kiran receive?

A) 75000

B) 72000

Q5) A and B started a business by investing Rs.4000/- and Rs.5000/- respectively. Find the A’s share out of a total profit of Rs.1800:

A) Rs.1000/-

B) Rs.1800/-

A = Rs.4000/-
B = Rs.5000/-
A share 4 parts & B share 5 parts
Total 9 parts -----> Rs.1800/-
----> 1 part -------> Rs.200/-
A share = 4 parts -----> Rs.800/-

Q6) Sumit and Ravi started a business by investing Rs 85000 and 15000 respectively. In what ratio the profit earned after 2 years be divided between Sumit and Ravi respectively.

A) 17:1

B) 17:2

C) 17:3

D) 17:4

P:Q = 85000:15000 = 17:3

Q7) Raj invested Rs 76000 in a business. After few months Monty joined him and invests Rs 57000. At the end of the year, both of them share the profits at the ratio of 2:1. After how many months Monty joined Raj?

A) 4 Months

B) 7 Months

C) 8 Months

D) 12 Months

#### Solution :

We can simply compute per month investment of both partnership
Raj invested Rs 76,000 for 12 months and Monty invested Rs 57,000 for x months.
Now 76000 × 12 / 57000 × x = 2 :1
=> 76 × 12 / 2 = 57x
=> x = 8
So Monty invested his money for 8 months and he joined after 4 months.

Q8) A and B invest in a business in the ratio 3:2. If 5% of the total profit goes to charity and A's share is Rs. 855, the total profit is:

A) Rs. 1425

B) Rs. 1500

C) Rs. 1537.50

D) Rs. 1576

#### Solution :

Let the total profit be Rs. 100.
After paying to charity, A's share = Rs.95 x3/5 = Rs. 57.
If A's share is Rs. 57, total profit = Rs. 100.
If A's share Rs. 855, total profit = 100/57x 855= 1500.

Q9) Ravi, Ram and Raj together started a business in partnership. The ratio of their capitals is 4:5:9.If their annual profit be Rs. 30600/-. What will be Raj’s share in this profit?

A) Rs. 8500/-

B) Rs. 15,300/-

C) Rs. 6800/-

D) Rs. 15030/-

Ravi : Ram : Raj = 4 : 5 : 9
Raj’s share = Rs(30600 * 9/18)
= Rs(30600 * 1/2) = 15300/-
Ram’s share = (30600 * 5/18) = 1700 * 5 = 8500/-
Ravi’s share = 6800/-

Q10) Varun, Sachin and Kowshi, enter into a partnership. Varun puts Rs. 500 for 3 months. Sachin Rs. 650 for 8 months and Kowshik Rs. 300 for 11 months. They gain Rs., 840. Find the share of Kowshik.

A) Rs. 260.20

B) Rs. 126

C) Rs. 277.20

D) Rs. 300.80

#### Solution :

Varun, Sachin, Koushik's investments 500, 650, 300
Investment period = 3, 8, 11
Profit ratio 500 x 3 : 650 x 8 : 300 x 11
Total profit = Rs 840
Share of Koushik = 33 parts
= (840/10) x 33 = 277.20
